Place: Building 14, Room 631A
Title: Homotopy interleaving distance on the filtered spaces
Abstract: The speaker will provide an overview of the preprint
"Blumberg - Lesnick: Universality of the homotopy interleaving distance
(arXiv:1705.01690)".
In this paper they attempt to establish homotopy-theoretical foundations of topological data analysis by introducing the notion of "homotopy interleaving distance".
As an application, under this framework they naturally deduce the Rips inequality - one of the fundamental theorems in persistent homology theory.
